I've just received a copy of the paperback edition of The Man Who Invented the Daleks, my book about Terry Nation. And very shiny and splendid it is too. The paperback isn't actually published until January, which means there's still time to get the beautifully designed hardback - the perfect Christmas gift, surely?

I'm in the process of reading the hardback edition, though I must admit its a borrowed copy from my local library! Its a good romp of a read, paticularly the references to popular culture.
Good to know there are still libraries buying books.
Hope you like it. Sometimes it gets described as a biography of Nation, which is a bit misleading, but as long as you don't expect too much in that line, I think it's alright.
The central library here in Swansea is relatively new (opened in March 2008)and 'state of the art' (which is more than can be said for the rest of the city, titter!)with very good facilities and an excellent stock of books (though the history section could be better!). It seems to be well patronised and none of the smaller local branches have yet closed, but I do worry about the future of our libraries. The newishcentral branch was planned before the onset of recession and there are retail infrastructure projects elsewhere in the city whose planning predated 2008 but were unfortunate enough to open later. The result is a considerable number of empty office and commercial space. During a recent gig in our local theatre the comedian Stuart Lee suggested that Swansaea resembled East Berlin pre-1989! I digress!
The cover for the hardback edition of THE MAN WHO INVENTED... is a sixties-style design classic and the paperback cover illustration is equally good! Were they designed by the same person?
